Psalm 139:15-17

Isn't this just so beautiful! The bible is truly the best book ever

Psalm 139:15-17

New Living Translation (NLT)
15 You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion,
as I was woven together in the dark of the womb.
16 You saw me before I was born.
Every day of my life was recorded in your book.
Every moment was laid out
before a single day had passed.
17 How precious are your thoughts about me,[a] O God.
    They cannot be numbered!

Quote of the day - Vision

“It's not what you look at that matters, it's what you see. ”
Henry David Thoreau

Good Morning.........some early morning inspiation

So I've recently committed to a morning routine of prayer and mediation (for at least an hr everyday)  - It's a time of worship, stillness and listening to the Word - this has made a huge difference in how my day goes - I feel uber refreshed and focused and now I'm thinking why didn't I start this sooner....err talk about late.org :)
Working out the body is great ,but nothing beats a sound mind and spirit.I'm so grateful to God for what he has done for me, my family  and loved ones. I'm hopeful for the future and I feel all so safe and assured knowing that He is with me always -even in valleys and darkness He is there .

Bible Verse of the day  :
''Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; - Proverbs 3:5

Have a great day!!

Quote of the day - PASSION

My Skin Regimen ...

au naturale

I often get asked what I use on my skin, so I thought to share this MASSIVE secret - lol not really :) - I'm pretty much basic when it comes to skin care; I rarely change products -they say if it isn't broken don't fix it. Perhaps twice a year I'll try out a new scrub or mask but for the most part all I use is facial wash.; tell a lie I did use scrubs(St Ives Apricot scrub) for a wee bit but was told by a cosmetologist to use exfoliating masks instead - perhaps she was trying to sell products - but I heeded and since then subtracted scrubs and added masks to the equation- all makes Jojo a happy lass :)

Anyhoo here's my regimen:

Wash - twice a day
Moisturize - usually any moisturizer with Vitamin C or that is good for combination skin
Rinse

Mask - twice a week (when I remember)

That's it !

Current products

Facial wash - Desert Essence Thoroughly Clean Face - this stuff is FANTASTIC! - it truly does what it says - I've been using it for over 4years now. I bought the 22oz refill bottle from Wholefoods and still have lots left - a little definitely goes a long way: not sure the price these days ; I don't think I paid more than $10 for the bottle - now that is good value.

Back-up Facial wash : lol for a lack of  a better term - for when my skin starts acting up or when I bored with Dessert Essence I'll seldom switch to Burt's Bees deep cleaning cream - it is so soothing and refreshing - I love it - a tad expensive so when I run out I'm back to my good ole Dessert Essence

Moisturizer : this is pretty random, I tend to run out every 4months and go hunting for a new one - for the life of me I can't remember the name of the last brand - right now I'm using Body Shop - Vitamin C Skin Boost (this also works great as primer), Vitamin C Daily Moisturizer and Seaweed Mattifying Moisture Lotion

Mask : Boscia Clarifying Detox Mask - it's ok - I have no other comparisons - will probably try the Black Mask after this runs out

Lastly I drink tons and tons of water and fruit/veggie smoothies 98% of the time- I must say this has helped a tad

My Hair update - May 2012

I really should do a length check - but I'm no longer fussed with my hair length - it appears to be growing fuller and thicker and that is just fine by me.

My current staples

Shampoo - Trader Joes Nourish Spa /Aphoghee (for squeaky clean)
Conditioner - Trader Joes Nourish Spa  -- I also add a bit of avocado oil, olive oil just for kicks
Leave in   - Kinky Curly Knot Today mixed with distilled water, avocado, olive, grapeseed and essential oils - this is a variation of the kimmaytube leave in - shuu the only common thing is the actual leave in :) - but this makes my hair oh so soft
Moisturizer/Sealant - unrefined shea butter & coconut oil
Styling product : err still looking for one - trying steer clear from Eco styler gel and gels in general

Head wraps are the ultimate bad hair day fix

I love headwraps - they are so chic, you can easily go from a drag outfit to wow. Given I officially hate clothes shopping - I find it much easier to accessorize these days  - maybe one day i'll be bitten by the shopping bug again.

JoJo's kitchen : Quinoa and Red Cabbage

Quinoa ((pronounced KEEN Wah or KINWA).

Quinoa this, Quinoa that  - I've been hearing a lot about quinoa lately that I thought what da heck I really should try it. I picked it up from the farmers market last Saturday- per the label it was the peruvian kind.

So what is it : per wiki ''a species of goosefoot (Chenopodium), is a grain-like crop grown primarily for its edible seeds. It is a pseudocereal rather than a true cereal, or grain, as it is not a member of the grass family. As a chenopod, quinoa is closely related to species such as beetsspinach, and tumbleweeds.''

Quinoa is packed full of nutrients , it is a good source of dietary fiber and phosphorus and is high in magnesium and iron. It is also gluten free and easy to digest.

How to cook it - I absolute had no idea so I googled it - a few recipes came up - but I had none of the ingredients at home - so instead I boiled it and stir-fried it with red cabbage and mushrooms

Natural Girls Rock - Atlanta 2012

So last week Friday I attended the Natural Girls Rock event , I believe it was their anniversary party.
The event was held at Tongue & Groove bar & lounge, a pretty neat spot if you ask me.
There was a fashion show, hair awards, food, drinks and music.
The event started at 5pm and yours truly didn't get there till 7:30pm  :) err talk about late.com - anyhoo I probably would've slit my wrist had I arrived any earlier.

I wasn't really digging the whole event but I ended up meeting some really cool peeps that made the $16 entrance fee worth it; so thumbs up for networking

I rocked my Chi-Chi wig - I had planned to wear my natural hair but time was against me.

Here are some pics (taken with my mobile phone)
